Tony Benn

A man of integrity is a rare thing in today's Punch and Judy show of parliament. I've learned in my life that people will forget what you said and people will forget what you did, but people will never ever forget how you made them feel. Antony Neil Wedgwood Benn the greatest prime minister we never had, was one of those people.A man of principle whose title was The 2nd Viscount Stansgate but renounced that title and also his Christened names, and simply called himself Tony Benn and also affectionately called Wedgie, but mockingly called a Champagne Socialist.I would encourage you to listen to this wonderful speech and take note that Jeremy Corbyn sat behind him. In today's world that speech would have seen Tony Benn banished from the Labour Party for anti-Semitism just as Jeremy Corbyn was banned for speaking out.The Real tragedy of this speech is that the war went ahead anyway regardless of what he warned and a million Iraqis died. This makes me ashamed of our so-called leaders who constantly follow America like a puppy dog, even to this day but consequences will surely follow the hubris being displayed like a rabid dog, and nemesis will surely follow. A summer election is coming but it's pointless voting because it's a foregone conclusion that Starmer will be the next Prime Minister and he certainly is not Tony Benn, he's more like Tony Blair and that's good enough reason not to vote for him....... scarily the establishment will get its way and Tony Benn will be turning like a top in his grave.
