Mr Bates and the biggest miscarriage of justice in British history.

Hello once again from my home in the heart of Kent where I make my videos with an audience of approximately seventy. Not great but my message, is to enlighten people of what is going on behind our backs with a government that doesn't actually care about individuals. We have a voting system with two major parties that are basically two cheeks of the same arse. Can we believe anything we read or are told? The answer is definitely not. There is information out there but it has to  be searched for and I certainly would not recommend the major search engines, they, are part of the problem.  I cannot emphasise enough the importance of questioning authority, most especially governmental officialdom. It's without doubt the most duplicitous institution there is with tentacles reaching everywhere including NGO's, quango's and God only knows what else because we the public don't know the half of it and the powers that be tell great big lies, backed up by a press that is bought and payed for by people like Rupert Murdock, who just so happens to have a few Bob, £18 billion according to records but probably much more.......who knows? How can we actually believe anything? Through his company News Corp, he is the owner of hundreds of local, national, and international publishing outlets around the world, including in the UK (The Sun and The Times), in Australia (The Daily Telegraph, Herald Sun, and The Australian), in the US (The Wall Street Journal and the New York Post), book publisher HarperCollins, and the television broadcasting channels Sky News Australia and Fox News (through the Fox Corporation). He was also the owner of Sky (until 2018), 21st Century Fox (until 2019), and the now-defunct News of the World. That is an awful amount of influence. It is well documented in the past that people like this can, and do heavily influence elections and therefore the running of a country the way they would prefer it to be. So basically,  your vote is heavily influenced by a billionaire. Is that right in a democracy? Quite obviously not. Now,  just recently a massive cover-up has been revealed in the corridors of power in England.Consequently there is an ongoing investigation into just one of these institutions and it was brought to our attention by very ordinary folk but actually very brave people doing the right thing and questioning the system that we live under...or more correctly a dictatorship we exist under, because make no mistake, that is exactly what it is. Anyone who knows me knows that I don't give up easily, this channel with hardly any long time followers attests to that fact but I keep coming  back to say what I firmly believe to be true. The truth is, what really matters and it finds its way through the constant  bombardment of rules and regulations designed to thwart our every move but.....all it takes is perseverance of individuals and if I can persuade just one person to merely question everything they read see or hear, then that will be my job done. Please just pass this on....... on to at least one other. We in England have a fact based drama that's just been premiered on ITV called Mr Bates and it's brought to light the terrible actions and false accusations of the British Post Office who  prosecuted and even jailed many sub-postmasters for stealing funds. Some of those people committed suicide as the shame of it they could not bare. Others pleaded guilty just to avoid jail but suffered the ultimate price of having to sell their houses or losing their life savings to pay back the amounts said to be outstanding by default.  This fact based drama will make you very very angry as it unfolds because of the absolute arrogance of these people in charge of such institutions. The question I pose is this. Why wasn't this investigated at the time? It took a TV drama to expose a terrible injustice and only now, the police may be investigating. Don't hold your breath because the professional people in high places are mysteriously protected somehow. What happened will become known as the greatest miscarriage of justice in British history when over 900 people were wrongly accused of fraud.. The IT system used was called Horizon it was developed and operated by Fujitsu Ltd on behalf of Post Office Ltd, Employees said they reported issues with the software from the start, but claimed the Post Office brushed off their concerns or said the issues were the fault of the individual branch managers.  Alleged problems with the Horizon system was reported by Computer Weekly in 2009 when  it was suggested that some of the computers used by the British post office couldn't handle the sophisticated software developed by Horizon. The CEO in charge of the British Post Office at the time was a lady called Paula Vennells andI did a little research on her background.  She left university in 1981 with a Batchelor of Arts degree. She went on to work for L'OrĂ©al,( lorryel) Dixons retail, Argos and Whitbread. From 2002 to 2005, Vennells trained for Holy Orders. She was ordained in the Church of England as a deacon in 2005 and as a priest in 2006.[  She was reported to have 'stepped back' from duties in 2021. Her membership of the Church of England Ethical Investment Advisory Group was also terminated. Now I wonder why??? In 2019, she became chair of the Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust in London but in December 2020 left this role early. In April 2021,following the quashing of 39 of the subpostmasters’ convictions, she resigned – under pressure – from her duties as an Anglican priest, and from directorships at retailer Dunelm and at the supermarket chain Morrisons. In January 2020, as the High Court case against the Post Office ended, Vennells's tenure as CEO was strongly criticised by Conservative peer Lord Arbuthnot, who said: "The hallmark of Paula Vennells' time as CEO was, that she was willing to accept appalling advice from people in her management and legal teams, purely because she was incompetent. The consequences of this were far-reaching for the Post Office and devastating for the subpostmasters. However, there seems to have been no consequences for her. Lord Arbuthnot described the behaviour of the Post Office under her leadership as "both cruel and incompetent", and said that "she was faced with a moral choice and she took the wrong one, the one which allowed hundreds of subpostmasters to be falsely accused, humiliated and ruined by the organisation she ran". In early March 2020, she resigned from her Cabinet Office position. On 19 March 2020, Vennells was harshly criticised in the House of Commons, but no prosecution has been brought so far. You would think that being an ordained priest would go hand in hand with honesty and integrity.  It appears in this case that Paula Vennells thought she might be above all that, just as many of her kind do..... I am holier than thee attitude.People like her are many, frighteningly so. We are completely surrounded by people like this, the multitude of inflated ego's who ride high on their hubris. People who go through university without any experience of life or any clue about the job they've just entered and the sufferance of those under them who have to cover their arses. Generally speaking these people have an inflated ego right  from grammar school through to graduating University where they are told to believe they're special. Sadly they are not and there is a term for that."The Dunning-Kruger effect" it is a cognitive bias in which people grossly overestimate their knowledge or ability in a specific area and it is compounded by their equally incompetent educators who pass on their own inflated ego's.  This tends to occur because a lack of self-awareness which prevents them from accurately assessing their own skills. I'm pretty sure we all know people like this in our own workplace. The world is full of people like this and there's a few basic words that explain it perfectly,  "bullshit baffles brains" it happens all the time......nationally and globally. The answer? I don't know but employing someone on ability rather than qualification might be a good start. When I was a builder I employed people but never asked for qualifications. Just one day on the job would reveal their true talent. The whole point of my monologue is this: question everything even if it makes you unpopular, going along with the flow just makes us sheep, stand up and be a voice and remember this: "People united will never be defeated" Mr Alan Bates just proved that...but.......its also a warning to steer clear of those with an inflated ego but have no ability and I'm pretty damn sure you know who I mean in your workplace.I have an old school  chum who is now a firm friend and he revealed to me some of his experiences.  He ran an office with considerable responsibility and was highly thought of in the company but decide to leave all the bullshit and office politics to return to what he knew best and felt comfortable with. A man after my own heart when I left my job for life and a secure pension with the British post office as a technician, a job that insured security and an extremely good pension,  just as long as you followed the rules and was a good boy, ability was never considered. For me it was the right thing to do and I've never looked  back. This post office incident has been extremely disturbing and totally devastating to those involved but it is just the tip of the iceberg of incompetent people in jobs they should never be in. Taking people from  university straight into any job without any life experience is a bit like taking someone who just past their driving test and putting them into formula one racing car......the crash is inevitable, and they usually take innocents with them. I'll end this short video on a high note Paula Vennells has just handed Back her OBE...... she won that award for turning the Post Office from a loss making company into a profitable one. Which begs the question: What happened to the money the postmasters paid back under threat of bankruptcy or prison. The one and a half million profit Vennells made for the Post Office could  account for this debacle.......just sayin.  Alan Bates and Fujitsu have been invited by the British trade committee for talks. Isn't it amazing how things progress when corruption has been revealed? I just wonder how many people in high places are breathing a sigh of relief it wasn't them.See you soon, thanks for listening.  .
